Stranded assets are investments or resources that lose value or become obsolete due to the transition to a low-carbon economy. For banks, these often include loans or investments in carbon-intensive industries like coal, oil, and gas, or carbon-intensive buildings with low energy ratings.

Many banks are reducing exposure to high-emission sectors by setting decarbonization targets and aligning portfolios with Net Zero goals.
